Wednesday and Thursday (Post by Eric Hausler)
Dear friends...
We're home! It's Thursday, and by God's grace we arrived home safely to Redeemer Church's parking lot about 8:30 this evening. Here's the scoop on our activities Wednesday, and our day of travel today.
We started our day with one last 2-hour session at the soccer field. Once again a good group of Haitian youth came, even some for the first time.
On the way home, our main host pastor, Pastor Edvard, drove us by his new home which is under construction and said that perhaps next year, a group could stay with him.

After Kekette prepared another delicious feast for lunch...

Kekette's final feast: Ox tail, Fried chicken and french fries, cole slaw Rice and Beans, Potatoes and Broccoli, and Salad |
...we loaded up for one last radio broadcast at
Radio Creole. I began with an introduction to the listening audience explaining what the Gospel is, referencing 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 where Paul reminds the church in Corinth that the Gospel they received is this good news of the death and resurrection of Jesus. Then I asked each of the team members to explain how they came to believe the Gospel. It has been such a privilege for us to hear Haitians tell us everywhere we go that they have been listening to our broadcasts!

Leaving the radio station we saw this woman selling shoes on her car along the road. :) |
After lunch a number of friends joined us to take a drive to the east end of the island of Providenciales to take a look at "The Hole" -- a large sink hole that is a tourist stop, and then a quick swim at the beach. The waves were so big we decided not to stay long as some of the Haitian kids were so small.
We cleaned up at Kekette's house and the group went off for more home visits. I went with Daniel to pick up pizza and sent the team off with Kekette for some diaconal visits on foot, with their son Mervil as the translator.

Kekette's mom gave everyone a kiss as they headed out on their last home-visit trip. |

Pastor Edvard met the team on the way and gave them a ride to Little Haiti... a neighborhood with a high density of Haitians. |

When the team prayed with this woman, she knelt down...so the team followed suit! |
For the remainder of the evening, we enjoyed pizza and a team meeting, while some of our new friends came by the house to say good-bye. It was a particularly blessed time to give a gift-Bible to Mitch, the son of our driver, who was such a servant for our team all week. Ask some of the team members what a joy he was to us.
Late Wednesday night we packed up all our belongings and got ready for the long journey home.
 |
As we packed up, we left a couple wedding dresses with Abel and Kekette to pass around the Haitian community. Many brides will use this dress donated from a Redeemer family. |
This morning we were all up by 5:30 AM and were at the Provo airport by 6:30 AM. Our flight left by 8:40, we had a lay-over in Miami and landed in Chicago at 3:00 PM Central time. Steve Entingh (from Redeemer) picked us up in his 15-passenger van and we had smooth sailing home to Ada.

Saying goodbye. |
A special thanks to all you who took time to pray for our team. We sensed the blessing of God upon our labors among the Haitian people. So many things were so evidently blessed by God! In the end, we continue to hope and pray that our testimony and witness will bear fruit, and that He will continue to strengthen the church of Jesus Christ in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. To God be the glory!

In Christ...we are one! |
Thankful for God's mercy,
